1. Why should a company choose short sea shipping - SSS? 
SSS is a very cost efficient mode of transport that cuts transport costs dramatically. The challenge is to organise competitive door-to-door solutions. This is to a great extent already done, but there is a great potential to develop this much further. SPC Norway shall contribute to this in co-operation with the companies concerned. Through combinations of existing and new solutions important factors as reliability, just-in-time, flexibility and frequency shall also be met by sea based total transport solutions.

2. Why are Norway and EU concerned regarding transfer of transport from road to sea? 
SSS is environmentally friendly and the shipping industry is continuously striving towards further improvement. Traffic congestion and accidents have grown to unacceptable levels. Transport activity are going to grow fast during the next decades. SSS is the obvious solution.
