New RoRo Line Kiel-Oslo

Color Line increases their capacity on the Kiel-Oslo route and have acquired a decicated RoRo vessel for this purpose.

Color Line has acquired the ro-ro ship M/S Finncarrier, and the ship is scheduled to go into operation between Oslo and Kiel in January 2019.

The new tonnage will double the existing offer on the route with an increased capacity of 36 000 trailers annually.

​​Oslo is one of Europe's fastest growing cities and has set high goals for environmental friendly and efficient transport of goods. Both the port of Oslo and the port of Kiel facilitate for better environmental solutions which enables merchants and road transporters to choose ro-ro ship transport as their preferred logistics solution.

With the new ro-ro product, Color Line Cargo will be able to shift a huge quantity of trucks and trailers from road to seaway and this will be an attractive solution for both importers and exporters. The vessel has 45% of its capacity at the weather deck, so this will be the perfect solution for the IMDG industry and meet all their transportation requirements. Color Line Cargo is aiming for an increased role in the logistics solutions for the European trading business. We will be an integrated provider for the transportation solutions future needs.

The ship will have 6 weekly evening departures, 3 in each direction and the route will have roughly 22 hour sailing time. In both ports everything is set for a smooth and efficient handling – and in Kiel there will be efficient intermodal solutions linking Europe to Kiel and our ro-ro operation.
